A successful DIY, mormon drama and some eye candy
Another week has passed and Sweden is officially in full summer mode. People have their legs out, everybody is going around eating ice cream and Stockholm marathon was yesterday which is the official start of summer in my book. Because it’s always at least 20 degrees out on that specific day. Poor runners.
I’m in a weird state of mind because we’ve had our last day of school, except the exam isn’t until Wednesday. So I’m still supposed to be studying although my summer schedule has kicked in with full force this weekend, leaving me with a 9:30 am wake up call. Super model off duty vibes. Jk.

I’m feeling like I’m getting to a really good place with my new(ish) apartment. I already had a lot of stuff so I didn’t need to stress about getting anything new straight away, but there were still some things I wanted to update for several reasons. You saw my new sofa cover last week and this week a new rug as well as a cute little throw pillow for the couch.
The rug was something that popped up out of nowhere as I was walking down the street the other day. Outside of a sweet little shop, there it was, just hanging out on sale. I took a photo and then waited a couple of days, thinking about whether it was really something I wanted. But eventually I did end up going back and getting it and I’m so happy I did. The Turkish man I bought it from was also the sweetest and called me “little lady” so I feel like it has good energy haha.
The pillow was something I’ve been dreaming about getting for a while (if anyone remembers my Valentine’s post from 2024, I even included it in there). However, it is 2600 SEK. Like more than 200 dollars. Which I don’t have. So I totally DIY:ed it and I LOVE IT.
I was totally behind on the whole Secret Lives of Mormon Wives thing, but I’m now watching season 2 and holy moly. Literally. These women are verbally scratching each others’ eyes out on the daily. It’s definitely entertaining but even more than that, it’s shocking. The way they twist each others’ words around and talk behind backs and judge and throw sh*t. I can’t believe the way they start different texting threads about each other and post dancing videos about their drama? I’m floored.
The 2 minutes were Mayci and Mikayla get to bond over being pregnant together though? So sweet.
I have the biggest sweet tooth and so most nights I have a little dessert after dinner, which today was ice cream with homemade chocolate sauce. And if you’ve never made homemade chocolate sauce then you’re missing out. Just add equal parts of cacao, sugar and water and whisk whisk whisk until it starts boiling. Delicious.

and I love it. Absolutely obsessed. I haven’t finished it yet so no spoilers please, and I’m a little hesitant about raving about a book before I know how it ends (hello Yellowface) - but so far it’s one of the most interesting, real books I’ve read in the longest time. I’m so in awe when it comes to the way it’s written. The way the main character feels so real in how her mood switches and the relationship she has with her best friend and ugh. It’s my biggest goal to be able to write that way some day.

This coming week wraps up my second year at Uni and honestly I’m so proud of myself. I didn’t know when I went back to school how I would feel and how it would turn out, seeing as I left a career I really enjoyed to try out something completely new. But I’m so happy I pivoted and went for what my heart was really calling for - and now I’m half way through! I’m so happy with the friends I’ve met, the support I’ve been able to receive and give to these incredible women (who don’t read my Substack haha), the things I’m learning and the new career I’m pursuing. I honestly can’t wait to be a teacher. But I’m really ready for summer holidays too.

Congrats on going back to school! It can be a bit scary to do a career pivot, but for something that brings you joy? Totally worth it.
