I have summer holidays! After five months of studying, moving, grieving, growing, writing - I finally have summer holidays. I have three long months of *nothing* ahead of me, to fill with whatever I desire. Aaaahh. Okay, enough rubbing it in your faces.
How are you? How’s June so far?
I just finished All Fours last night and I still really love it. I wouldn’t give it a 10/10 just because I don’t really love the kind of ending where (tiny spoiler alert) the stoy skips ahead in time to kind of show that time provides perspective and now the main character, who was going through it, is now “fine”. Like yes, that’s often how life goes but a lot of the time the chaos also just continues but in a different form and you don’t really end up being gracious and understanding and wise after some time has passed.
Anyways, All Fours by Miranda July is truly spectacular in the way it is written. I’m in such awe of the honesty in so many of the relationships depicted, or the emotions portrayed. The language is superb. The book is moving and funny, which is a difficult balance. I just loved it.
Like every on the person on the internet, I’ve realised that my hair goes kind of wavy if I don’t touch it at all and let it air dry while sitting completely still - I have curly hair you guys!!! Jk. But still, I kind of like it wavy like this AND it provides a different texture for outfits AND it’s kind of low maintenance compared to blowdrying it very other day. So now I need recommendations of which products (that are available in Sweden/Scandinavia) I need to ty to make my waves even wavier and also last longer. Should I also get curly/wavy shampoo and conditioner or is that a scam?
I went to a champagne tasting the other day with a friend and felt fancy. It was us, two other 30-something girls and a bunch of 60-year-olds. Amazing.
So what did I learn? First and foremost, that day drinking is an extreme sport that I have yet to master. The tasting started at noon and by 18 I was falling asleep, no joke. Secondly, I learnt that there are champagnes that are made from all green grapes (blanche de blanche), some that are made from all red/blue grapes (blanc de noir) and some that are made from a mix (cuvée). I am apparently a blanc de noir kind of gal, and like my champagne with a bit of bready, earthy, nutty, aromatic notes.
Forgive me for sounding double my age but it’s really interesting getting glimpses into this kind of expertise. I obviously knew that winemaking is an entire science in its own, but now I have at least a slightly expanded vocabulary when choosing what to drink myself. Being a beginner at something can be super fun.

I am SO excited about the fact that more of you have been wanting to style my closet! Truly the best way to get new perspectives and be reminded of stuff that I haven’t really worn in a while. And new pairings of things I wouldn’t think of myself.
I will 100% be doing a post where I try on the outfits you guys have styled for me, so if you want to share your genius then make sure to get in there and send me some stuff to try on - preferably within the next couple of days. I will try on everything you guys send me!! My indyx is @juliafamna.
I know this might be giving into the pettiness of it all but I am so done with grown up women behaving poorly towards one another. One of the things I love about Substack is the community of women and I know so many of you agree and are a positive contributing force of your own in all of this. But then there are some seriously rotten eggs who just shock me every time they float up to the surface. Grown up women who exclude on purpose and ghost you and behave childishly. Ugh.
Okay, anyways. I had a lovely Zoom talk with
last week that left me feeling great and connected and inspired. We have began a collaboration and I can’t wait to dig into it now that I have more free time after my exams are all done (thank you Sigrid for your understanding). We got into talking about the differences about Danish women and Swedish women, but also how many similarities there are too. And how our bodies will keep on changing and growing, and it becomes a much smoother ride if you lean into it rather than fight against it.That’s all for this time, but I’m so excited to get to reading all of the Subs I have saved. And I’m gonna eat my freshly baked banana bead while I do so. Because that’s the sort of thing you do on *summer holidays*.
Wishing you the best start to your week!
The hair!!!! Girl you’re glowing ❤️
The fact that your hair is EFFORTLESSLY like this..??!! (Also LOVED All Fours--several of my married, older GFs have changed their lives because of this book!)
