Yeeeehaw. I don’t know what happened but suddenly we’re almost all the way through September, I have about four different essays to get done in the next week and according to my Apple watch, I’ve been averaging 6.5 hours of sleep a night for the past 10 days. Anyone else feel like they got knocked out by “back to school”? I can only imagine how it is for those of you with kids…
However, I’m still standing. It’s a shame to complain about having too much to do, but I need to start taking my sleep more seriously. Movement and nourishment have been pretty good so we just need to sort out a better sleep routine and we’re good to go. Oh and get though this course in mathematics that is kicking my butt, simply from the sheer work load. But between early mornings to drop Finn off at my mum’s and hour long study sessions, I’ve gotten a few beautiful forrest walks with a good friend (and our dogs). I’ve picked blueberries and chanterelles to last me the whole winter. And I’ve booked another trip to LA. (Iiiihhhh).
Okay so I ordered the COS sneakers in navy but they were HUGE. I’m usually a 37.5 so I ordered the 38, but they were about 2 cm too long. Crazy. I ended up returning them instead of going for a smaller size because I also kind of thought the toe box was slightly too square for my taste. I like the suede sneaker trend so I’m still looking for something to scratch that itch, but for now my Sambas will have to do.
I also ordered these crazy hairy Tibi-style heels from H&M. They were an instant yes for me as I just think they’re so cool and hilarious. Not sure how or when I’m going to wear them but sometimes you need to let yourself add some “sparks joy” pieces to your closet, no? I love how elongated the toe is and I would love to find an occasion to wear them with a longer silk dress and a mohair knit. Or a pair of blue jeans and 00’s style going out-top.
When I was in LA last time I got the LEMME Sleep gummies and let me tell you that I *almost* regret it because now I notice a huge difference in my sleep quality when I don’t take them. So that’s definitely something I need to stock up on now when I go back. Have you tried any of the other LEMME products? Or do you have any other recommendations on what I need to try? Please hook me up.
I also never went into Sephora when I was there last time, so I definitely want to try to squeeze that in this time. There are so many brands that we don’t get in Sweden yet, but I’m also not a huge makeup girlie - so if you have any must-haves that I should try then let me know.
To lower my stress levels and have something to wind down with in front of House MD each night, I’ve started a new knitting project. No one is surprised. This time I’m actually following a pattern though, which means less guesswork and more zen. I hope it turns out great and I actually wear it during winter but either way it’s a relaxing hobby. You know?
Our favourite wellness writer,
, asked me to share all things wellness in my very own city and I was absolutely thrilled to do so. Stockholm offers a wide variety of workouts and healthy eating, with everything from the current trends (matcha, LPG massage, infrared saunas) to the tried and true classics (regular saunas, oatmeal, ice skating, skiing). I feel like wellness is fun and easy in Sweden, and people generally make sure to cover the basics like getting enough steps, getting quality sleep and getting outside each day, before jumping on the newest fads. Home-cooked meals and access to nature gets you a long way.Read my entire wellness guide here. (And leave a little comment while you’re at it <3)
I currently feel as though I’m dropping balls left and right. But that’s when I remind myself that some balls are made of rubber and some are made of glass (who was it that said that again?). Dropping the rubber ones is okay and I’ll pick them back up when I feel more capable. When people are waiting for responses from you and you don’t have the mind space to get back to them, it’s easy to get caught up not only in feeling stressed but also feeling like you’re letting people down. Instead, thank them for their patience once you have the time and energy to reach out again.
That was a reminder to myself but if it made you take a deep breath too then you’re welcome.
Not to sound all *insufferable influencer* but I do have some fun posts coming out soon that I hope you’ll enjoy. I know I’ve enjoyed writing them. Substack is seriously one of my happy places and I can’t wait to get back into the swing of things and catch up on both reading and writing on here. I just need to catch up on about 12h of sleep first.
So grateful to each and every one of you. Seriously.
Ciao
Back to LA?! Please say we will get another post about this!
yay! thank you for all of your stockholm knowledge!
