We’re in LA, baby.
I arrived two days ago and I’m finally starting to feel almost normal again, although still a little tired. Arriving midday to LA was a bit of a mindf*ck because I couldn’t really fall asleep on the plane (middle of the day for me) and I immediately wanted to go to bed as I arrived (evening for me). But it was lunch time here. Not that I have to explain jet lag to anyone but it was just a pretty rough one this time around.
Happy to get a bit of extended summer though seeing as fall is in full swing in Stockholm. And not the Gilmore Girls-kind but the rain and gloominess-kind. Los Angeles is still in shorts and sunscreen season, obviously.
Don’t you hate it when you go on vacation and realize you packed for a style/personality that you don’t have? This time around I tried to pack a few more “fun” personality pieces. Last time I ended up bringing a lot of tank tops, partly because I knew it was going to be really hot and partly because I thought “these go with everything”. Which wasn’t necessarily wrong, but made me feel a little bit like I was wearing different iterations of the same outfit every day. Therefore, I took the stuff that I wore most last time/enjoyed wearing last time and added another blouse, a fun pair of pants, a dress, a going out top. A pair of ballerinas. And a few of the tank tops were edited out. So far I’ve felt really good. Comfortable but still like me.
Before I came to LA I had this idea that the city was going to sort of chew me up and spit me out. It’s common to hear that Los Angeles has a bit of a cutthroat vibe going on and that people are stepping all over each other to get to the top – no matter what. I definitely notice there being more of a focus on career, money and appearance here than what I experience in Stockholm (or other parts of Europe for that matter), but it doesn’t feel bitchy and false. It feels kind of horny, in the words of
.People here have a tendency to be very warm and welcoming in the midst of also being openly ambitious and confident in their own abilities. Yes, there’s a more prominent tendency to lift yourself up and pat yourself on the back here than in Sweden. But there seems to also be a tendency to lift other people up and team up with people to make it to the top together. Swedish people won’t generally care all that much about fame and fortune but we also won’t say hi to the bus driver or give up our seat for an elderly person. What’s up with that?
I’ve been a bit skeptical as to why the J.Crew Rollneck has been making headlines all over the place. To me it seemed like a bit of a hype, and not one that was really worth leaning into. Well, I take it back. I saw someone wearing it the other day and now I want one. In every colour.
It’s classic, it’s understated, it’s fun and comfortable. It works just as well on him as it does on her. What’s not to love? I thought maybe I’d go for a fun pink or red, but I also kind of love the navy with gold stripes. However, that one has the classic fit whereas I think the updated fit might suit my body shape better. Ivory? Stunning. Navy? Timeless. Heather Morning Dew? Just the name is enough reason to make me want it.
Which one would you get?
Last time I was here I got Mejuri’s Tiny Diamond Stud for my upper helix piercing and I’ve absolutely loved wearing it. I feel like it’s subtle enough to wear everyday but it just adds that little extra bit of fun and sparkle. And even though maybe no one else cares, I know that’s it’s a diamond. The first diamond I’ve ever gotten, actually, which makes it that much more special to me.
My lower helix hasn’t had an occupant for quite a while now though and I’m considering maybe getting another one of the same so they’ll go together. Although it would also be fun to get a different one, just to shake things up a little. The Mini Pear Diamond Stud looks gorgeous, as well as The Mini Lotus Diamond Stud. Might have to go back and try on a couple of things. Mejuri, if you’re reading this – feel free to sponsor a girl in need of some sparkle!
(I’m also OBSESSED with their Sapphire Tennis Bracelet and think it might have kicked the Liffner Sprout Tote down from the first to second place on my “graduation gift for myself” list).

I am NOT looking forward to going back to Stockholm in a week, but that’s not something I have to worry about yet and until then I’m going to enjoy myself as much as I possibly can. One of these days I simply not get a return ticket back home… But we’ll see about that.
As always, I’m so happy to have you here. Let me know if there’s anything I can’t miss this time around in LA! Talk soon x
LA healed my heart and lifted my soul so I wish the same for you!! ✨
