Main character interiors
The dreamy, wholesome and aspirational homes that live rent free in my brain
Which interiors are etched into your brain, forever burnt into your retina and eternally posted as the number one dream home? I have a few that come from a variety of places: the Gilmore Girls’ house, my friend’s mum’s apartment when we were growing up, the ”Under the Tuscan Sun” bedroom, Kate Winslet’s cottage in ”The Holiday” - to name a few.
It’s not even that they’re my style per se or that I necessarily want to liken my current home after these images, but I can bring them to the front of my mind at a moment’s notice. And they feel warm, cosy and most of all *real*. (Which is funny because more than a few are movie sets). I guess it pulls on the same strings as my current obsession with what I like to call *real clothes*. Something that hasn’t been carefully curated, styled, handpicked and organized. No, the feeling I’m after is undone, authentic and lived-in.
Let me try to demonstrate:
When this image popped up in my Pinterest feed I had a small hallelujah moment, not to be dramatic or anything. But just look at it! Now I know it’s all very clean and tidy but I really wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t. The pink bed spread, the awkward square lampshade, the patterned bed throw on top of the pink bedspread, the limestone slanted ceilings… It’s so cute I just want to squish it. There’s nothing cool or chill about it, but still it’s fun and flirty and feminine.
I just know I would feel so amazing waking up in this bed every morning. I fantasize about how the funky bed frame was found at some obscure flea market, the lamps bought on a honeymoon to Tuscany. The painting holding sentimental value as it was painted by some distant family member. A joyous mix of personal beautiful things.
If I were to ever make a movie just know that this will be the bathroom. Better yet, this is the only place we’ll be filming. It’ll be a movie about a fabulous bathroom and the woman who spends her days in here, with friends and lovers and sometimes alone.
Oh and back to my aforementioned affection for Stick of butter-interiors. Yellow walls + yellow lampshades + yellow paintings + yellow curtains. Delicious. So wholesome yet so chic, right?
I mean, come on. This too could be a movie all on its own. We get to follow the people who gather around this table, their lives and what might go on outside the windows. But more importantly, we get to follow the lives of these Josef Frank sofas with matching pillows. They’re in a turbulent relationship with the green chairs which ultimately ends up being true love, after some drama with the green curtains and the art noveau lamp. But the refined yet sturdy table manages to set things straight between them all again.
Okay enough silliness. I’m dying to know though, which interiors are your GOATs?

These are dreamy - love the small pops of color and patterns breaking up an otherwise neutral design palette.
These are to die for! Can I ask the source for the bedroom pic? Obsessed with the new duvet style that goes to the floor - so minimalist yet chic
