It’s spring! I don’t know who decided that March 20th is the official start of spring, but I love it. Actually that’s not true. We read all about the different seasons just some weeks ago at uni. There’s something about the declaration of something, like spring, a new year, a new Taylor Swift-era, etc, that just makes me feel calm. I need to be able to know what we’re dealing with here.

I’m also packing up my entire home and relationship which has turned out to be more of a physical strain than an emotional one. I do tend to head into tasks with a get-shit-done attitude and get really caught up in the nitty gritty of what to put where and how to pack efficiently so that no one box is too heavy and nothing is pushing against something frail. I’m glad I got started early (a little over two weeks before the actual move) because as soon as I start sorting through one part of the apartment, I’m reminded of “oh I need to take down that lamp” and “hm I can’t forget to pack those hangers over there”. Never-ending story of sh*t I’ve accumulated over the years.

Thank you for reading Good Talk!

Anyone want some home decor inspo?

Anyways, let’s more on to the moodboard part of this post and leave this rambling for another day.

So as I was packing up my wardrobe yesterday, I actually managed to clear out an entire Ikea-bag worth of clothes, which is impressive just because I already cleared out two (!) Ikea-bags worth of clothes some months ago that are still waiting to go to the local secondhand. (Yeah I’m Swedish, we measure things in Ikea-bags). It just feels so good to know that everything going into the wardrobe at my new place is something I’m excited to wear and know I genuinely like wearing. And guess what, while I was doing that a newsletter from the queen of organization (

Anna Newton
) landed in my inbox that just made me even more excited to get my sartorial sh*t together this spring (read her post here). And that means my new organized life starts today! No one is more excited than I am.

The steps are originally from the one and only

Allison Bornstein
, and are as follows:

  1. Check your saved folder/Pinterest board for what feels exciting and like a “yes”

  2. Go through your own outfits/closet and pull inspiration from what lights you up

  3. Go on an hour-long inspiration hunt (don’t ask why it needs to be 60 mins, just trust the process)

I’ve then followed

Anna Newton
’s way of dividing my findings into different categories for easier analysis of what we’re actually seeing. Shouldn’t be too hard right? Let’s get cracking.

1. From my saved folder

  • Colours

I’m seeing a lot of white surprisingly, but also a little black. Not much, but a little. Other than that I’m seeing pale ochre, different shades of green, cherry red. Oh and references from the entire brown/beige spectrum, from espresso to mocha to caramel.

To summarize: white, shades of brown, and the holy trinity of rastafari colours.

  • Key elements

Light denim, slouchy pants and loose tops. Nothing is fitted really, but that comes as no surprise. More blazers than I would have guessed because I never really feel like they’re part of my style. Quite large bags. Long(er) necklaces. Tshirts, both short-sleeved and long-sleeved. Sneakers and sandals, what else is new.

To summarize: light denim, tshirts, jackets/tops with volume, nothing too fitted.

  • Styling

Quite a lot of chill, no? Like something you’ve “thrown on” to go to the farmer’s market with your incredibly chic French best friend that you low key want to impress. Is that a styling prompt? Feminine but in a modern way. Little accessories that make a big difference (sunglasses, head scarf, necklaces, caps, hair scrunchies). A little undone, and always with a chill shoe.

To summarize: long necklaces, larger handbags, spring jackets, undone.
