loved this list, I think its chic when you don't ask new people what they do for a living, and instead ask 'so what do you like to do/what do you do at the weekends'

So true! In Swedish it's more common to just ask "What do you do?" and it usually puts people in a better spot to tell you about whatever they want to tell you!

Yes!! Remembering the names of the people that work in your building or office! Also reading service workers name tags and using their names when thanking them!!! Goes the longest way and is very very chic

This list is everything && more

Très chic!! Remembering names in general, and remembering people you've met only once or twice before. Impossible, but chic.

dang i guess for today (and this list) i am tres chic!! I will also add to the list for traveling chic...having one's documents ready at the TSA pre-check lines as well as luggage that closes and is not overflowing through the xray machine. also traveling carry-on only (yes for longer than a weekend lol) AND knowing and following TSA rules so as not to delay the rest of us (EMPTY YOUR WATER JUG BEFORE YOU GET ON THE LINE!!!!!)

I'm so happy for you Tamara, big congrats! And you're so right about travelling — it's all about a smooth security check and never ever waiting for your luggage!

I read Tamara’s comment as more about courtesy - which is always chic and sadly increasingly rare - than individual self satisfaction.

You're right — but maybe it's both about courtesy and self-satisfaction!

My daughter is named Laura and it's actually a very refreshing name for kids these days, as everyone else is set upon using a "different" name. The problem is everyone wants a "different" name, so more often than not, your kid's name isn't different at all!

Laura is honestly one of my favourite girl names! I had a best friend named Laura when I lived abroad as a kid and she was the absolute sweetest

i was just listening to a podcast that said exactly this but about the Biebers naming their baby 'Jack' - the new different thing to do is to not be different at all!

Walking inside an office packed of people and saying good morning , getting into the elevator full with people and saying good morning , opening the door for people … manners in general are so so so CHIC and rare . When I see people doing that , I’m immediately attracted to them .
