I purposely haven’t included any suede in my edits mainly because it’s just not functional for wetter climates. I’m not going to recommend dropping serious cash on high quality suede when it can be ruined instantly by rain!

Also - you definitely made the right decision with the COS bag! 👏🏻

Great point, suede is definitely a precious little flower! And Stockholm does provide a whole lot of downpour, but I'm kind of okay with staining my shoes and bags. NOT my suede jackets though!

The Cos bag is a definition case of label dickmatization (a la Neverworns). It’s not The Row but because it is the best variation we’ve seen of the lauded Margeux it’s easy to want to it to work. Sigh. I’m sorry it didn’t but I look forward to the update RE &Other Stories.

Also, the pic at the end with the girl who has a sweater WITH dress shirt over her shoulders is so insanely chic.

It just wasn't meant to be, but it sure took some work to admit it💔

Loved to read about the thought process on the COS bag and laughed hard at the swimming pool comparison. Very excited to see the & other stories alternative!

I have been obsessively googling trying to find this bag and I think your post convinced me that it wouldn’t work IRL and it’s yet another thing thats beautiful but not practical for living your life, also I also think it might look somewhat ridiculous on my petite frame 😭

She’s pretty though and I look forward to seeing the other bag! X

Honestly it might work for someone else! Although it would probably make much more sense as some sort of weekend bag/mommy bag than a work/school bag. If I were one of those people who spent all day in my car and needed a place to put all my *stuff* then this would be my very fancy choice. Just didn't work for my commuter lifestyle, sadly🥲 (Plus it just looked plain weird on me)

I’m so sorry that The Bag didn’t work… but you should feel proud of yourself that you sent it back!

As much as I adore the look of a suede bag, the reality is that beauty is fleeting! They never seem to wear well for me!

Yeah I guess you kind of have to accept the wear and tear as part of its beauty... If you want your bag to look fresh and new then leather is the way to go!

I think the biggest shift is COLOR 🌈 to pair with all those textures from suede, croc/emboss/exotic leathers etc. particularly pairing darker rich tones with lighter pastels - like butter yellow and rich brown, pale blue with oxblood, etc. EG I am wearing bright blue pants and a mossy green shirt right now - two years ago it would have been a grey top, no question. I am really excited to pair colors together in a way I haven’t been in ages! Suede is gorgeous for texture and a great shortcut for adding that “rich” feeling, but I prefer it in accents/accessories for now. That said, I got an inSANE pine green lady jacket in suede at an estate sale this summer and am dying for it to be cool enough to wear!

It’s so interesting to take part of other people’s journeys with clothes/styling/creativity like this! I love that you’re aware of your own preferences and how they’re changing over time

I live in a place with no real seasons so maybe that’s why I’m not as influenced by fall trends, but I tend to pick color themes that appeal to me instead of seasonal items. For example lately I’ve been into line green and dusky purple together. They don’t really say autumn but they’re cooler colors that could represent cold weather.

I like your journey with the big Cos bag. I don’t think I’d be able to handle a bag of that volume either. At least you gave it a fair try and you’ll have no regrets.

Ooh I love the sound of that colour combo! And I agree, I tend to crave certain colours (maybe more so than certain textures even). And yeah, I definitely gave it my all!!

Gosh why is it SO humbling to return something we wanted to make work? I'm always so stubborn forcing myself to make use of it even if it isn't quite right. Good for you for returning the bag to find something that makes more sense!

Sometimes it’s so hard to deatach ourselves from the idea of something! Well done for sending back something that wasn’t just right for you.

Thank you - and yes, so hard!! When you just really want something to work it's a struggle to admit that it just ain't.
