The best styling tip for summer, the problem with king sized beds and what to make for dinner tonight (you're welcome)
Happy Freaky Friday! I’m currently sitting in our guest room writing this instead of studying, and when I’m done I’ll be taking my dog for a long walk instead of studying. There’s something about being in the home stretch that makes procrastination all that much more enticing - no? Even though I know I’ve got less than a week (!) left of this term it’s like my brain is already on summer holiday and I have to convince it to let go of the (imagined) margarita, take off the sombrero and drag it to the desk. Just one. more. week.
Anyways, what are your weekend plans? Mine include replanting our tomatoes that are shooting up in this lovely sunshine, making a DIY headboard for our new bed and painting our kitchen table. I’m thinking a warm green? Oh and shit, I almost forgot again, studying.
Okay you guys, have you listened to Whitney Port’s podcast? I always loved Whitney all the way back to The Hills, as she seemed like the most level-headed and humble out of all the girls. Then I rediscovered her through her Youtube series ‘I love my baby, but…’ where she spoke honestly and openly about her mixed feelings regarding pregnancy, motherhood and more. And now? She does one of my favourite podcasts! I especially love the episodes ‘Date night w/ Timmy’ where Whitney and her husband (that’s Timmy, keep up) chat and level with each other about different high-and-low topics. They just seem like the sweetest couple. Watch here or listen here.
The best thing I read this week was Anna Newton’s reminder to simply stop buying clothes we don’t like (read the full post here). It’s way too easy to buy into the need for summer classics/must-haves like floral patterns, bohemian dresses, daisy dukes (ugh), or just anything frilly, flouncy or backless. Instead, do you! Wear the clothes you actually like in the colours and patterns you know suit you and your style. Also, permission to wear the long pants even when it’s hot outside!

The photo on the right was the one I sent to my mum and sister to proclaim how difficult it is to make a king sized bed. It’s also what made me realize that we need a headboard like, pronto. It just looks so sad with the pillows propped up against the wall like that. Also, my boyfriend is a self-proclaimed “hot sleeper” and so he sleeps with only a sheet in the summer which drives me crazy because all my fluffy hotel bed dreams go straight out the window when I don’t have our usual extra thick duvets to work with. So now the question is, what goes - the bed or the boyfriend? I’m joking. Sort of.
I’m over the moon to soon be able to share my first collaborative post with none other than the fabulous Martina Čilić of M Edits. Martina reached out to me after my post on why Kendall Jenner’s style is so good yet stupidly simple and told me she could make my Kendall dreams come true through a 1 hour styling session. Who would pass on that opportunity? It turned out not only to be a fun creative hour but also a delightful chat.
The results? More to come soon.
Lastly, don’t worry about what to cook for Friday night dinner because this is it. Vodka pasta - probably the yummiest, most romantic dish there is. My favourite recipe is by Swedish food blogger Sofia Wood and you can find it here. If you can’t read Swedish just chuck it into google translate or chatGPT (and feel like a digital native).
That’s all for today! As always, thank you for reading. And don’t forget to tell me what you’re up to this weekend, I love connecting with all of you. xx
Not me just nodding along and then SEEING MYSELF! Thanks for the shoutout Julia xx
Haha I hear you on the bed situation! I recently switched over from our winter duvet to our summer duvet and it looks so sad because it's so flat now compared to the winter one
